This Privacy Policy describes how Manuel Miguel, doing business as Dr. Miguel INBDE Prep ("we," "us," or "our"), operating as "Dr. Miguel INBDE Prep," collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit our website, create an account, or purchase and use our online courses, question banks, and related services (the "Services"). The Services are hosted on the Thinkific platform. By using the Services you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
• Account information: your name, email address, password, and country or state of residence when you register.
• Purchase information: billing name, billing address, and the products or subscriptions you purchase. Payment card details are collected directly by our third-party payment processor (such as Stripe or PayPal); we never receive or store your full card number.
• Optional profile information: information you choose to add to your profile, such as your dental school, graduation year, or target exam date.
• Communications: messages, questions, feedback, error reports, survey responses, and support requests you send us.
Information collected automatically
• Learning activity: courses accessed, lessons and videos viewed, quiz and practice-question answers, scores, progress, and time spent, so we can track your progress and improve our materials.
• Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, referring pages, pages viewed, and dates and times of access.
• Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 6.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
• create and manage your account and deliver the products you purchase;
• process payments, subscriptions, renewals, and cancellations, and send transactional emails (receipts, renewal notices, password resets);
• track your course progress and quiz performance and show it to you;
• provide customer support and respond to your questions;
• send you educational content, product updates, promotions, and study tips by email, where permitted (you may unsubscribe at any time);
• analyze how the Services are used so we can improve our courses, questions, and website;
• detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, account sharing, unauthorized distribution of our content, and other violations of our Terms of Service;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
3. Consent
When you provide personal information to create an account, make a purchase, or use a product, you consent to our collecting and using it for those purposes. If we ask for your information for a secondary purpose, such as marketing, we will ask for your express consent or give you an opportunity to opt out.
Withdrawing consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Withdrawing consent for marketing does not affect transactional emails needed to operate your account.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
• Service providers who help us operate the Services, including Thinkific (course hosting and account management), payment processors (Stripe, PayPal), email delivery and marketing platforms, video hosting, analytics providers, and customer-support tools. These providers may only use your information to perform services for us.
• Legal and safety purposes: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety or that of our users, including enforcing our Terms of Service and investigating suspected fraud or unauthorized distribution of our content.
• Business transfers: if our business or the Services are acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owner so that the Services can continue.
5. Payment Processing
Purchases are processed by third-party payment gateways that comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your payment card data is encrypted and handled by the processor in accordance with its own privacy policy. We retain purchase transaction records (but not full card numbers) only as long as necessary to complete the transaction, provide support, comply with tax and accounting obligations, and address disputes or chargebacks.
6. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking
We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and local storage) to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, resume your place in a course, measure performance and engagement, and understand how visitors use the Services. We may use web-analytics tools that collect anonymous or aggregated session information.
You can set your browser to notify you when a cookie is set or to refuse cookies, but some features of the Services may not function properly without them. Because there is no consistent industry standard for responding to "Do Not Track" signals, we do not currently alter our practices when we detect such a signal.
7. International Users and Data Transfers
We are located in the United States, and our service providers may be located in the United States or other countries. If you access the Services from outside the United States—including from Latin America, Canada, or the European Union—your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your country. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer. Information processed in the United States may be subject to disclosure under U.S. law.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to provide support, maintain records of your purchases, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account as described in Section 11.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational precautions, consistent with industry practice, to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Data is transmitted using SSL/TLS encryption, and payment information is handled by PCI-DSS-compliant processors. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Age of Consent
The Services are intended for adults, including licensed dentists and dental graduates preparing for the INBDE. By using the Services you represent that you are at least 18 years old and the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
• access the personal information we hold about you;
• correct or update inaccurate information (you can update most account details in your profile settings);
• request deletion of your account and personal information, subject to our need to retain certain records (for example, purchase history for tax and dispute purposes);
• opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us;
• lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority in your jurisdiction.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
12. Third-Party Links
The Services may contain links to websites or resources we do not operate (for example, the ADA, JCNDE, professional associations, or textbook publishers). Once you leave our site, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites and encourage you to review their privacy statements.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date will be revised. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Services. Please review this page periodically.
